A grant of $802,601 has been awarded to Professor Steven Reppert of the University of Massachusetts Medical School by the National Institutes of Health as a supplement to his R01 award "Circadian Clock: Differential Cryptochrome Functions". This will be used to determine and interpret the high-depth draft sequence of the genome of the monarch butterfly, Danaus plexippus. Genome Project Solutions will oversee the sequencing and lead the informatics effort through a subaward of $176,312 from these funds.
(Previously we had determined 70 MB of sequence using traditional Sanger methods plus 205 MB of sequence using the Roche/454 FLX instrument, for about 1x coverage of this genome.)
