Genome Project Solutions leads an effort to perform whole genome analysis for a variety of oomycetes. This is a sizable portion of the $2,130,000 project "Phytophthora sojae: A High Quality Reference Sequence for the Oomycetes", directed by Brett Tyler of the Virginia Bioinformatics Institute, and funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation / U.S. Department of Agriculture Microbial Genome Sequencing Program. Genome Project Solutions has met its first milestone, generating evolutionary reconstructions for all of the genes of four oomycetes (Phytophthora sojae, P. ramorum, P. infestans, and Hyaloperonospora parasitica) and two diatom outgroups (Thalassiosira pseudonana and Phaeodactylum tricornutum). Further, after determining the orthologous and paralogous relationships for all genes, we were able to construct gene co-linearity maps for all of these genomes.

All of these analyses used our PHRINGE method.

All results of this analysis, including gene cluster membership, multiple sequence alignments, BLAST results, comparisons of intron-exon structure, evolutionary trees, and ortholog colinearity maps can be viewed here.
